It seems like everybody, at some point, has the need to post a message saying something like: “Oh, I’m so sorry, dear multitude of readers, avid followers of this supremely interesting blog, but I haven’t gotten round to writing anything even remotely interesting in the last couple of days/weeks because nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah.”
So, what’s my excuse?
Frankly, I think it’s the fact that recently, more than anything else, my pc has turned into a big money-making machine, rather than an instrument to express any form of creativity that I might feel bubbling up inside of me. (Not that i actually ever feel any bubbling, but it’s a nice idea.) Basically, when I’m done with work - of which I seem to have quite a lot right now -, all I want to do is turn off this machine and run away.
Literally. Somehow, last week I managed to go into a sports store and buy a pair of running shoes. Even more surprisingly, i actually go out running now. I always remember having a vivid aversion of running, yet now I’m totally into it. (Can’t wait to reach the 10 km mark!) However, I don’t know how I will combine my new-found passion with a weekly swimming session, twice weekly badminton sessions that resume mid August, and yoga sessions I am hoping to start in September.
And I also want to play in a band?
Fact: today it’s been exactly two months since i came back from my round-the-world trip thingie. Scientific evidence seems to suggest two months is the time it takes for post-trip euphoria to completely disappear. I can see what they’re getting at. Not that it’s all gloom and doom: I’m living in a nice house with lots of guitars and two cats in a quiet street, and I eat lots of veggies. Social interaction is at acceptable level. On the other hand though: a big fat meh. No matter how far or fast I run (not so fast, anyways): meh. Is it wanderlust rearing up its head again? Or is it the vitamin D deficit?
Either way, a little trip to good ol’ Poland (5th visit!) and Berlin next week should provide some nice distraction. Time to get away from this computer machine a bit. And afterwards, maybe (maaaaybe) I’ll find the time and interest to upload full picture sets of my trip. That is, if I don’t go running.
